South American Cruise - Amazon Rain Forest up the River Negro

Sylvia starts back...
...eventually negotiates embarkation....
...and we're on our way back down river.
We seem to be in more of a hurry...
...than others.
Meanwhile, back at the beach things seem to be going on much as before. Pah! We receive understandably odd looks as we, pastey faced old white people in combats, get into our riverboats and head back to Minerva.
This is the dome from Manaus's famous Teatro Amazonas opera house, built during the C19 rubber boom. It didn't catch on as a venue...being in the middle of bloody nowhere!
And so night begins to fall, and we set sail up the Negro towards the Amazon proper. As you go from one river to the other there is a weird non-mixing phenomenon, caused by the difference in speed and density of the two rivers...
...which you can just see in this image. Called 'the meeting of the waters',the colour difference is caused by the silt in the Amazon vs the fresher water of the Negro. It lasts at least a mile or so - very odd.
