During
the night we sail east down the Amazon and moor at a small
town called Santerem on the Rio Tapajos.
|
The
local kids come out and row around the ship for kicks...
|
...and
I get arty with the new camera...somewhat unsuccessfully.
|
Its
quite a small town built around a main bankside road. Pestestrians
are in the minority, as most people do the two wheel thing.
|
Bars,
bikes and churches...it could be Ireland.
|
It
got me like Piccadilly Circus - I had to sit down and take
it easy. What's with all these bikers?
[Can you spot Waldo the horse somewhere in this image?]
|
After
a fierce 10 minute gun battle, I decided it was probably time
to return to the ship. They don't wait for you apparently.
|
En
route, I bought some suntan gunk for $3 from the art deco
styled drugstore of the Amazonas - everything was real cheap.
Everybody says haggle, but come on, why?
|
Another
night aboard, travelling east, and an Amazonian sunset photo
op presents itself. Well you've gotta haven't you?
